Hand Forged Carving Axes, Carbon Steel 52100 Blades, Ash Handles, Leather Sheath
Product Details
The right carving axe is the one that fits the work. This hand-forged carving axe is available in two blade profiles — the same steel, the same handle material, the same standard of edge, but a different geometry for a different approach to the wood.
Axe 1 is the heavier tool. At 700 g (1.54 lb) with a longer handle at 33.5 cm (13.19 in), it carries momentum through larger stock and rougher cuts — the axe you reach for when there is significant material to remove before the detail work begins.
Axe 2 is the control axe. At 480 g (1.06 lb) with a shorter handle at 22.5 cm (8.86 in), it stays precise and responsive close to the form — the axe that shapes, refines, and removes material where a heavier tool would overcut.
Both head lengths are 10 cm (3.94 in) at the blade. The profile of the blade is what differs — choose based on the work and the feel in hand.

• Each axe comes with an individual hand-stitched leather sheath, riveted at the stress points, protecting the blade between sessions.
