Hand Forged Carving Hatchet, Carbon Steel 52100 Blades, Ash Handles, Leather Sheaths
Product Details
This hand-forged carving axe is available in three forms — each built for a different approach to the wood, each from the same 52100 carbon steel hardened to 59 HRC.
Carving Axe 1 is the widest blade in the range at 11.5 cm (4.53 in) — maximum edge contact per stroke, built for removing material quickly across broad surfaces. At 660 g (23.28 oz) it carries enough weight to move through green wood without forcing the cut.
Carving Axe 2 shares the same weight class at 650 g (22.93 oz) with a slightly narrower blade at 10 cm (3.94 in) and a longer handle at 31.5 cm (12.40 in) — a touch more reach and control for shaping work that requires precision at the end of the stroke.
Carving Axe 3 is the short-handle option. At 480 g (1.06 lb) and 22.5 cm (8.86 in) of handle it stays close and responsive — the axe that works in tight positions, removes material near the form, and stays precise where a longer tool would overcut.
• Materials: All axes are hand-forged from 52100 carbon steel, hardened to 59 HRC — steel that holds a working edge through extended sessions in green wood, hardwood, and softwood without chipping under lateral load.
• Handles are shaped from ash, finished with natural oil.
• Each axe comes with an individual hand-stitched leather sheath, riveted at the stress points.
