Hand Forged Wood Carving Adze, Carbon Steel 52100 Blades, Ash Handles, Two Sizes
Product Details
An adze removes material the way no other tool can — across the grain, in a controlled arc, hollowing a surface that a chisel or knife cannot reach efficiently. This hand-forged carving adze is available in two sizes: a long-handle tool for serious material removal, and a short-handle tool for close, controlled hollowing work.
Adze #1 is the heavy tool. At 1 kg (2.2 lb) with a handle length of 40.5 cm (15.94 in), it swings with momentum and clears material quickly — the adze you reach for when roughing out a bowl, hollowing a large spoon blank, or removing significant material before the detail work begins. Comes with a leather sheath for the blade.
Adze #2 is the control tool. At 430 g (15.2 oz) with a short handle of 22 cm (8.66 in), it stays precise and responsive in the hand — built for detail hollowing, refining a curved surface, and working close to the final form where a heavier tool would overshoot.
• Materials: Both adzes are hand-forged from 52100 carbon steel, hardened to 59 HRC — steel that holds a working edge through extended hollowing sessions in green wood, basswood, and hardwoods without chipping under repeated impact.
• Handles are shaped from ash, finished with natural oil.
